A do-it-yourself earring display

I’m great at thinking of craft ideas or finding them on the Internet. In this post I will share an earring display I made after gathering many ideas on Pinterest.
Long back I picked up an old 8X10 frame at a thrift store. I finally decided I wanted to use it to display handmade earrings.

There are many ways to do this. You can use ribbon or wire stretched across the back of the frame to hold the earrings. I decided on burlap. I’m not sure why. I came across it at a craft store and decided to go with it.
My first attempt at stretching lengths of burlap didn’t work. It was too thin and didn’t look right. That is when I decided to fold each length of burlap. I used a stapler to attach it to the back of the frame. I used the same technique with each length of burlap until I had the frame filled.
I trimmed the excess burlap along the sides with scissors. This was a bit of a challenge because of all the strings that kept coming out. I used glue along the edges to help keep the frayed strings at bay.

Then, easy peezy, earrings stick right into the burlap. I have it sitting in a display stand, but the hook is still on the back so I suppose it could be used as a hanging display as well.
I have a much larger wooden frame. I’m still trying to figure out how I might want to use it. I don’t think I will be using the burlap approach with it.
