Seeking suggestions for using a decorative dish and colorful glass

Well, let’s see. I had to run an errand to get cat litter and my car just happened to stop by a couple of craft stores. Funny how that happens.
I picked up a few odds and ends…earring wire, chain, crimp beads and jump rings. I also found some things that may come in handy when photographing my handmade jewelry.
About a week ago I found a very nice glass dish at a thrift store. Somewhere in my head I had a vision of possibly using it in a craft display. I knew pretty quickly what I wanted to do with it.
I bought a couple of bags of decorative glass and poured them out on the dish. I figured at the very least this would provide a background when I take photos of my handmade jewelry. Now I’m not so sure.

Maybe it’s the color of the glass I chose, maybe it’s the way I arranged the jewelry – all I know is it isn’t looking right to me. I’m also wondering if this approach would even work as a part of a craft display.
I welcome ideas for how I might use this dish and the decorative glass. In the meantime I am going to play with some of the other display pieces I have acquired.

If I may... I think clear glass rocks may be the way to go. Black would also be pretty for more of your dramatic pieces. That way, the jewelry is the star of the show and the rocks, while pretty, will only be a background.
